Description
Pre stratified swamp milkweed seed. (asclepias incarnata). Swamp milkweed is a wonderful plant for butterfly pollinator gardens. Ideal for medium to moist soils. Host for monarch butterflies, the wonderful smelling flowers attract many pollinators. It is a short lived perennial, usually not lasting longer than five years.
Most native milkweed seeds need a cold treatment (stratification) for best germination. These seeds have already been stratified. However, they germinate quickly and will need to be planted (indoors or out-keeping in mind milkweed seedlings can be frost sensitive) immediately upon arrival and depending on time in transit, may already show signs of germination.
