Orange/ butterfly milkweed seeds (asclepias tuberosa) Host for monarch butterfly although not as popular as some of our other milkweeds. Blooms in early summer. Native perennial. In the wild grows in drier moist areas, but can be planted in any medium to dry sunny site. A good plant for the garden as it is not aggressive. Flowers are great nectar source for many butterflies and pollinators. For best germination seeds should be planted in fall or placed in a bag of moist substrate (sand, paper towel, coir) for 30+ days prior to planting. Very long lived, but slow growing.
