Wild Four O’clock (mirabilis nyctaginea) starter plant (dormant)

$6.50

Wild Four O’clock (mirabilis nyctaginea) starter plant. Native perennial plant that tends to be found in disturbed areas, but doesn’t do well with competion. Readily reseeds if given space. 4 ft tall and prefers medium to dryer sunny areas. Pink flowers that open in the late afternoon, hence it’s name. Nectar source for nighttime flying moths. Host plant for white lined sphinx moths.

These have gone dormant for the year, but still have excellent root growth and can be planted anytime the ground isn’t frozen. Just treat as is though it were still growing and water through any prolonged dry spells. They will continue to grow roots for next season, despite having no foliage. If ordered in the fall they may still have some foliage or yellowing foliage but in late fall or winter will just be old stems. Planting dormant plants is a great way to get plants established for next season!

All of our plants are grown in biodegradable fabric pots. The containers are around 4″x4 1/2″ May be planted in the pot or removed. If kept on, I suggest ripping the sides of the pot for easier root penetration.
