Pawpaw (asimina triloba) starter tree (dormant)

Pawpaw (asimina triloba) starter tree. Pawpaw is a unique tropical tree that grows throughout the southeastern US. In the wild, it prefers moist woods and will produce small colonies by spreading runners (rhizomes) Does well in medium to moist soils in sunny to partially shady spots. To be able to produce fruit it needs a separate tree that has not been produced by rhizomes. It is the only host for zebra swallowtail butterflies. A rather slow growing tree that usually grows under a foot a year and won’t start producing flowers till they are around 7 years old. These are all second year, seed grown trees that are approximately 5-8inches tall.

As with all of our plants, they are grown in biodegradable fabric pots. The pots can be removed or left on for planting.

We keep all of our plants where they can follow their natural cycles. Here in MI, these plants are dormant and are just stems with roots. However, once received, plant them and let them finish their winter cycle and they will send out new growth in the spring.
