Oval leaf milkweed (asclepias ovalifolia) starter plant. Also called dwarf milkweed. Small, but pretty with white flowers. These milkweed naturally grow in sandy but not too dry soils, but can be adapted to a variety of conditions. Like all native milkweeds, it's the host for monarch butterflies.
These are one year old plants but dwarf milkweed is slow growing and really doesn't begin to shine till it's third year. These will look small when you get them but will grow and establish a good root system for the future. Extra care will be needed to make sure they don't get overtaken by neighboring plants and weeds. Young milkweeds are enjoyed by deer and bunnies and will need some protection.
All of our plants are grown in biodegradable fabric pots. The containers are around 4"x4 1/2" I recommend removing them or tearing up the sides for root penetration.
