The Butterfly People
Welcome to our garden haven, where every seed sown promises the joy of nature at your fingertips. Let us inspire and guide you on your journey to create a flourishing oasis right at home.
Blazing Star Butterfly Garden was born from a lifelong passion for butterflies and the natural world. Our founders, Kevin and Ronni-Michele Collison, have always been fascinated by butterflies — from searching for caterpillars as children to studying the full life cycle, habitat needs, and beauty of these remarkable insects. This passion inspired the creation of a place dedicated to education, conservation, and hands-on experiences with butterflies and the plants that support them.
Located in Van Buren County, Michigan, we raise a variety of native butterflies and cultivating a variety of nectar and host plants designed to attract and support local butterfly and pollinator populations. Every year, we raise more than 20 species of native butterflies and moths, each with its own unique lifecycle. We pair this with plants selected specifically for their value in butterfly gardens — from nectar sources for adults to host plants for caterpillars — all grown without pesticides and in environmentally friendly containers.
Our mission is simple: to increase butterfly populations and teach others how to create thriving habitat in their own yards, schools, and communities. We offer a range of products and services, including:
Butterfly livestock and raising kits for educational and personal use
Native butterfly garden plants suited for feeding and sheltering pollinators
Educational programs and workshops for groups, schools, and community events
Butterfly-themed art, photography, and jewelry inspired by the wonder of nature
At Blazing Star Butterfly Garden, we believe that every garden can make a difference. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just discovering butterflies, we’re here to help you nurture habitat and celebrate biodiversity.
